In my second episode of Martinis and Your Money, I welcome my first guest, Erin Lowry, founder of the personal finance blog, Broke Millennial and the brand and content manager for Magnify Money. Erin is a great person to talk to about credit myths and tips because she not only has excellent credit, but also she is passionate about helping others, especially millennials, understand and manage their credit better.

Podcast Notes

We begin the podcast with our discussion of martini choice, which in Erin's case is the Dirty Martini. If you would like to make one of your own, here is the recipe:

  • 2 oz of Gin or Vodka

  • Splash of Dry Vermouth

  • 1/2 oz of Olive Juice

  • Garnish with Olives

Erin revealed that she has a preference for vodka, even though she knows she is doing it wrong, but she doesn't like the smell of gin. I, on the other hand, love a gin martini. We both agreed that the dirtier the martini the better, and we both had a preference for gorgonzola stuffed olives. After our martini discussion, we shared some of the top credit card myths that we have heard and what you really need to be doing to manage your credit properly. We then discussed where to go to check your credit score, Erin shared a few sites like:

Erin and I talked about her new company, Magnify Money, and their mission to save people money on bank fees. We discussed the importance of becoming a self-advocate where your finances are concerned, and why you should never be afraid to ask for money back from your bank.

Random Three

Erin answered my random three questions which were:

  1. If this was your last night on earth, what would you want to eat for dinner?

  2. What movie makes you laugh all the time?

  3. If you were stuck on a deserted island with only one book, what would it be?
