Happy Hour Session Two

Once a month, I am hosting a happy hour on the podcast where I get together with some friends, drink cheap drinks and chat about money topics. In my first happy hour last month we talked about whether something was saving or stealing. This month we are asking whether or not you are cheap or frugal based on certain activities.

What We Are Drinking

Melanie from Dear Debt – Cosmopolitan

2015-02-23 17.32.25

Tonya from Budget and the Beach – Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

2015-02-23 17.32.29

Mrs. Frugalwoods from Frugalwoods.com – Boxed Red Wine

2015-02-23 17.33.06

Shannon – Boxed White Wine

2015-02-09 21.01.58-1

Podcast Notes: Frugal vs. Cheap

  • Watering down soaps and shampoos to make them last longer
  • Cutting your own hair
  • Regifting (Mrs. Frugalwoods even has a strategy around this)
  • Separating two-ply toilet paper
  • Wearing clothes multiple times without washing it
  • Dumpster or trash diving

Do you think doing any of these things is frugal or cheap?

Shannon is a financial planner who left a “traditional” financial services firm to start her own company, The Financial Gym, because she felt traditional financial services firms did not have the tools or resources to help people in their 20s and 30s who are starting out and trying to build assets while also managing debt. She realized that the key to long-term personal financial success is a commitment to financial fitness and making smart financial choices. Through her blog, Financially Blonde, her book, Train Your Way To Financial Fitness, her podcast, Martinis and Your Money and The Financial Gym, Shannon is committed to making financial fitness fun, easy and accessible for everyone.
