Money Saving Pro

I am really excited to talk about this next venture in my life. I have hinted about the fact that I have been busy lately, and will continue to be so, and one of the reasons is that I have decided to team up with Money Saving Pro, a website that is focused on provided unbiased reviews and helpful information for consumers. My official title is "Managing Editor" and I am responsible for the content on the site.

Why am I so excited?

1) This site fills a need

As an independent financial planner, I do not have to refer my clients to certain banks or investment solutions, and it is one of the many things that I love about my job. However, frequently my clients are in need of a financial product or solution, and they look to me for advice and guidance on what they should choose. I always felt as though I needed and they needed a good source to find the best fit.Frequently, I referred to NerdWallet because I thought their information was well laid out; however, they don't have a wide list of products they cover. Bankrate.com is an absolute cluster and it's near impossible to find anything on the site. I love how much Money Saving Pro already has available, and I am excited about helping them create even more ways to help people save time and money.

2) It's amazing how we found each other

I was actually introduced to the MSP team through my publisher because the PR team that they are using knows my publisher. MSP was looking for a consumer advocate for the site who was reputable and understands money issues consumers are facing (sound like someone you know?). They have been working on their site for over a year now, and they are ready to take it to the next level. I have been working on my own for a year now and I am ready to take it to the next level. It's amazing how cosmic connections can happen.

3) I have a voice

One of my main issues with a number of sites is that they push products based on how much they get compensated for pushing them. This is a practice that I don't like, and a big reason why I have not developed my affiliate links on my blog. Part of my role at MSP is to review and approve all content, including providers we suggest on the site. Yes, there will be affiliate relationships with some; however, we have a number of providers on the site where we have no affiliate connection; but I knew they were an excellent consumer choice and should be reviewed. I have been working behind the scenes with them for almost 3 months now, and my voice is always respected and appreciated.

4) I still get to do the other things I love

The great part about this new role is that most of it can be accomplished via my computer, so it does not take me away from the other things I am working on like my clients, my blogging and my writing. It will of course detract from my sleeping, but that's what coffee is for. :-) I just could not give up an opportunity to have a positive impact on the financial choices that people make. I spend most of my day trying to help people save more money and spend less, and I am excited to work on a great resource for them to utilize. Please check out Money Saving Pro and tell me what you think.
