Top Ten TV Dads

With Father's Day on Sunday, I thought I would share my list of the top ten tv dads since I shared tv moms for Mother's Day.

10) Homer Simpson - The Simpsons

Despite the fact that he physically abuses his son, Bart, all the time, Homer really does work hard (or at least as hard as he can) to provide for his wife and children. It's probably a good thing, though, that he spends more time at Moe's Bar than home with his kids.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrbL4-WxZAE

9) Mr. Drummond - Diff'rent Strokes

I always loved this show and the heart of it was the fact that Mr. Drummond decided to take in and eventually adopt two boys of his deceased former maid.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isy2jWbs6N4

8) Jason Seaver - Growing Pains

I confess that I had a HUGE crush on Kirk Cameron growing up, so I was more fascinated watching him on the show than anything else, and it is still crazy to think that this was the show that kicked off Leonardo DiCaprio's career, but Jason was always available for his kids with great advice, probably because he was a practicing psychiatrist who had a home office.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSFGsgm_0vI

7) Philip Banks - The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Uncle Phil not only worked hard to provide for his own children, but his heart, home and patience grew with the addition of his nephew who needed a better environment than the streets of Philadelphia.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEo8Qp7Yua8

6) Danny Tanner - Full House

Candace Cameron was recently on Dancing with the Stars and watching her made me nostalgic for this show. It was part of the TGIF line up on ABC when I was growing up and I loved watching Danny's struggles to raise his three daughters with the help of his friend and his brother-in-law.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ6KEJ8KDQw

5) Tony Soprano - The Sopranos

Okay, so he may not win any awards for father of the year, but he is certainly one of the most entertaining dads to watch, especially when he is overprotective of his daughter, Meadow. And it is awesome that the show is now available for free as part of Amazon Prime.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkC8Vm3Imds

4) Tony Micelli - Who's the Boss

I always admired the fact that Tony worked hard and sacrificed most of his own happiness so that he could provide a better life for his daughter Samantha.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uU3GE802gxs

3) Cam and Mitchell - Modern Family

I am going to give this spot to the duo of Cam and Mitchell on Modern Family because it definitely takes the two of them working together to make their family run.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aSzTVrP5FQ

2) Eric Camden - 7th Heaven

My grandfather was a minister; however, his church was in the inner city of New York, so my mom didn't quite have the same experience as the Camden kids. That being said, Eric was not only a great dad to his kids but also to his congregation.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llYNMATwKEU

1) Cliff Huxtable - The Cosby Show

It only seems natural that I would have Cliff at the top since I had Claire at the top of the mom's list. I loved the Cosby Show and I always wanted to be a member of the Huxtable family. As I mentioned earlier in the week, Cliff reminded me a lot of my dad and since I didn't live with my dad, watching the show made me feel closer to him.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rO35dhxNjYI

Bonus - My Dad!

As an added bonus, I am going to include my own dad on this list as he was on Good Morning America this week because 18 years ago he led the team that separated conjoined twins who just graduated co-valedictorians. So proud of my dad!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qj4tmsL_H5Q
